Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part 2, starring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier, was one of the most-anticipated Tamil films of 2024. The politically charged film, which was released in theatres on December 20, will be making its way to the OTT space on Zee5 with the premiere date set for January 2025.

It is a direct sequel to the much-acclaimed Viduthalai Part 1 which was released in 2023. The 2024 film, which opened to mixed to positive responses, continues its theatrical run. Viduthalai: Part 2 is particularly notable for leading man Vijay Sethupathi’s power-packed performance.
Viduthalai Part 2 plot and cast
Noted filmmaker Vetrimaaran directed both Viduthalai: Part 1 and Part 2, which follows a rookie cop who has to capture Perumal Vaathiyar, the leader of the people’s movement. Soori played the role of the newly recruited cop, while Vijay Sethupathi essayed the role of Vaathiyar. The first installment of the duology ends with Vaathiyar's capture, while the second part delves into his backstory, depicting the rise of the leader.
The first part featured Soori in the lead role, with Vijay Sethupathi seen in an extended cameo as the leader of the people’s movement. Manju Warrier joins the second part as Perumal's wife, Mahalakshmi, a fellow comrade.
Viduthalai Part 2 also boasts of notable names such as Gautham Vasudev Menon and Anurag Kashyap in its ensemble cast, along with Bhavani Sre, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, and Balaji Sakthivel, among several others. The film has music by Ilaiyaraaja.
