From Vetrimaaran’s hard-hitting Viduthalai-Part 2 to Soodhu Kavvum sequel, here are the most-awaited Tamil films releasing in December 2024.

Tamil cinema has been facing a lull in 2024, with sporadic hits and mostly misses. Even as we got to enjoy films like Lubber Pandhu and Amaran, which also satisfied the box office, Tamil cinema will mostly end the year on a quiet note only with a few noteworthy releases. Here is what you can watch in theatres in December.
Although a Telugu film originally, Pushpa has become a pan-Indian success and has garnered enough fans in Tamil cinema. The sequel, Pushpa: Rise, is headlined by Allu Arjun and also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil and others. Directed by Sukumar, the film is about a red sanders smuggler who eventually becomes the kingpin of the trade and creates his own kingdom.
Titled Soodhu Kavvum II: Naadum Naatu Makkalum, the sequel stars Shiva, Karunakaran, Harisha, Radha Ravi, Karunakaran, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak and Yog Japee, among others. The sequel is helmed by SJ Arjun. The upcoming film will be featuring a different story altogether and can be seen as separate from its predecessor.
Viduthalai - Part 2 is the upcoming sequel of Vetrimaaran’s period action drama. The film stars Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sre and others. Viduthalai revolves around a constable who has to fight against the people’s movement standing up to police brutality. Ilaiyaraaja is scoring the music for the film.

Bottle Radha is an upcoming Tamil film starring actors Guru Somasundaram and Sanchana Natarajan in the lead roles. The film is written and directed by Dhinakaran Sivalingam in his debut. It revolves around the titular man who is grappling with drinking issues, while his wife is irked by her husband’s behaviour. Other cast members of the film include John Vijay, Maaran, Antony, Pari Elavazhagan, Arumugavel, Abhi Ramaiyah, J.P. Kumar, K.S. Karuna Prasad, Malathi Ashok Nawin, Suhasini Sanjeev and others.
Thiru Manickam stars Samuthirakani in the lead role, along with Bharathiraja, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Chaams, Vadivukarasi, and Ilavarasu. It is helmed by Nanda Periyasamy. The film is touted to be a family drama about a middle-class family and the struggles they face.
