Viduthalai: Vijay Sethupathi thanked Vetri Maaran for making Soori, the hero of the film. Here's why...

Actor Soori is all set to make his debut as a lead actor with Vetri Maaran's much-awaited Viduthalai. The actor will be playing police constable Kumaresan who gets into an operation to track down Perumal Vaathiyar, a 'separatist' leader in the film, played by Vijay Sethupathi. Talking about his co-star, Soori stated during the audio launch that he hasn't seen anyone encourage a supporting actor like Vijay Sethupathi did.

"I have always played a comedian and this is the first time I am playing the heI have not seen anyone encourage a co-star or a technician more than Vijay Sethupathi mama. One day, he called me early in the morning and asked me to keep the phone next to my cheek. He offered me pecks on my cheek over the phone. When I asked him the reason he said that he had seen a few footage from Viduthalai and was mighty impressed. He was in Mumbai at that time and was so happy to see my work."

He added, "I remember when Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu had released (Soori's debut film), he had asked me to not restrict myself to comedy roles. He had stated that I had a lot more potential and that I should experiment. So, when I finally got to play the character, he was on cloud nine. On the sets of my film, I heard Vijay Sethupathi mama thanking Vetri Maaran sir, for making me the hero of the film. It's not often that you come across good souls like him.

Soori stated his parents must have done something right in their life for him to feature in Isaignani Ilaiayaaraj's music. "People say that the music director is the hero of the audio launch, but as far as Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja is concerned, ever since he set his foot in the industry 45 years, he has been the hero. I am glad that I could feature in a song that has been composed and sung by him. My parents must have done some good deeds in their life for me to stand here."
