Commando, which made headlines as an elevated action flick and superhit cinematic universe, is going to be converted into a series on Disney+Hotstar. The series will recount the action epic in an all-new style, credited to an incredible director and series genius, Vipul Amrutlal Shah. This adaptation will establish a precedent in India as the first cinema franchise to transition into a web series.

The new series will go into deeper levels on Para SF Captain Karan Singh Dogra's (portrayed by well-known actor Vidyut Jammwal) actions, providing audiences a closer look at his life and objectives. Unfortunately, while Vidyut is hugely associated with the franchise, the creators are presently looking for a new face to play the mysterious figure in the upcoming episode.

In a statement on the production of the all-new series, which also marks his second collaboration with Disney+Hotstar, director and producer Vipul remarked, “It's an absolute pleasure and joy to extend the action franchise like Commando into the OTT world. The franchise has been very special because we launched the supremely talented Vidyut Jammwal and it went on to become one of the most successful action franchises. It will be very exciting as this is going to be another experiment with the same franchise that has never happened in India.”

He went on to imply that Vidyut is really the only commander in cinema and that OTT will have a new commando. Vipul further explains how the action genre is undiscovered on Indian OTT platforms, making it a fresh element for the platform. He went on to remark how delighted he is to be involved with Disney+Hotstar after Human. He calls them "an amazing team with a great vision."

The head of content for Disney+ Hotstar & HSM Entertainment Network, Gaurav Banerjee, further stated, “Commando is an action film franchise that has developed a cult following and we are excited to announce today it’s reimagining as a web series. Delighted to associate with Producer-director Vipul A Shah as he takes the Commando character to a digital canvas."

Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s previous hit series Human starred Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari in the lead roles. The series showed the underside of human clinical testing, as well as big private hospitals and public officials that use the poor in people experiments for new medicines. Both Shefali and Kirti’s performances and the story of the series was lauded by viewers and critics alike.

Hopefully, Vipul will be able to recreate the same magic with the Commando web series, even without Vidyut in the lead role. The actor would, of course, be missed though.
