Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Thalapathy67 puja held today

The big day is here! The much-awaited puja ceremony of Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film was held this morning. Though the team didn't release any pictures from the launch ceremony and an official announcement is yet to be made, the internet is buzzing with the news about the muhurat puja. The film is currently being referred to as Thalapathy67 and is said to be part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Thalapathy67 is touted to be a gangster thriller just like Lokesh's previous film, Vikram, and the shoot is likely to begin in January. The film is said to be made on a whopping budget.

Thalapathy67 is one of the most awaited films which marks the comeback of the Master duo, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay.  We also hear that Trisha is all set to play the leading lady of the film, thus marking the comeback of the iconic pair that ruled the roost in the 2000s with films like Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi. The duo is now coming together after a span of 14 years. The rest of the star cast is likely to include Sanjay Dutt, Vishal, Nivin Pauly, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mathew Thomas to name a few.

In the meantime, Vijay is busy with the final works of his upcoming Pongal release, Varisu, which is helmed by Vamshi Paidipally. The film is said to be a family drama cum action entertainer and has Vijay teaming up with Vamshi and the film's leading lady Rashmika Mandanna for the first time. The second single Thee Thalapathy which has been sung by Silambarasan TR and composed by Thaman.

The film has an ensemble cast R Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VT Ganesan, John Vijay, Bharath Reddy, Sanjana and others. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and will hit screens in January.
