Vijay Antony, who has dabbled with editing, music direction, acting and film production, is turning a director with his upcoming film, Pichaikkaran 2, being dubbed in Telugu as Bichagadu 2. As the title says, the film is a sequel to Bichagadu, originally directed by filmmaker Sasi, that was a surprise success in Tamil and Telugu versions.

The multi-faceted film personality earned many fans with his films over the years in Telugu states with Nakili, Yaman, Vijay Raghavan and Indrasena, to name a few. After recovering from a serious accident on the sets of Bichagadu 2, he is now back in action to promote the film extensively. The film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad was attended by actors Adivi Sesh and Akash Puri.

The actor-filmmaker thanked his Telugu distributors. “Every director, producer treat their film like a daughter being sent to a new family. I have no such worries for this film. These are very nice gentlemen, it’s rare to come across such people in the industry,” he said. While addressing Adivi Sesh, he said, “I saw Goodachari many years ago. I heard you wrote the story for it too. You’re a multi-talented individual. It’s not easy to direct a film. I thank you for gracing the event.”

People always look down upon commercial cinema but I admire Puri Jagannadh, he shared. “I like your screen presence as well..please convey my regards to him,” he told Akash Puri. Hailing the event’s host Suma, Vijay Antony said he expects to see a mass, kuthu dance from her sometime. He conveyed his gratitude to Telugu writer Bhashyasree. “He takes care of all aspects in Telugu, makes my job easier and conveys my thoughts perfectly in the language”

He credited his co-star Kavya Thapar who saved him from the accident on the sets of the film. “She is a simple, humble girl. The accident happened because of my mistake. She went through a process with her face but didn’t bother much about it. This is my first film as a director. Those who watched the first part won’t be disappointed and will like this one.”

“I’ve taken all important elements from the first film and kept it here. I thank Sasi garu for directing the first part and Chadalavada Srinivas Rao for releasing it here,” Vijay Antony stated.
