Vijay Deverakonda has still not seen Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh and no, it's not because of the controversy

Vijay Deverakonda brought Arjun Reddy alive on the big screen. He truly became a pan-Indian name after the film’s release and Vijay, who was just an outsider till then, was taken seriously as an actor after the film. He even opened his production house, among other things, soon after.

Arjun Reddy was remade in Hindi as Kabir Singh. The movie featured Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles but Vijay has not shown any interest in watching the film yet. Is it because of the controversy? Definitely not. The actor had reasoned why he hasn’t seen Kabir Singh back when the movie released and it appears that reason is still valid today.

During his recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the Liger star was asked to describe Shahid Kapoor’s performance in Kabir Singh in one word. The actor said that he hasn’t watched the film.

Vijay has still not seen Kabir Singh. Some time after the film’s release, Vijay had told India Today that he had been working constantly and thus, he hardly has time to catch up on films.

However, that might not be the actual reason why he hasn’t seen Kabir Singh. Vijay justified saying, “Even if I get that little time, I would watch new films rather than watching films which I know in and out.”

While Liger is Vijay’s debut film in Bollywood, it could have very well been Kabir Singh. Yes, the Arjun Reddy of Tollywood was asked to work in Kabir Singh, which eventually landed in Shahid’s kitty and did him wonders.

Vijay turned down working in Kabir Singh because he was not interested in working on a project that he knew inside-out. “I turned down the offer as I didn't want to do it all over again,” he had said.

Liger is produced by Karan Johar. The film stars Ananya Panday as the female lead and will also feature Mike Tyson in a brief role.
