Not everyone liked what Liger star Vijay Deverakonda had to say about the boycott call on Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and now, a growing community of people on social media are calling for a boycott on Vijay's first Hindi film, Liger, too.

The Telugu star Vijay Devarakonda, who is making his Bollywood debut with actress Ananya Panday, was during a media interaction about his thoughts on social media users boycotting Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. To which, Vijay said that people need to realise that they are not only affecting Aamir Khan but also thousands of poeple (and families) who have worked on the film and treat the movie-making process as their means to earn livelihood.

Vijay Deverakonda also added that poeple need to look at the bigger picture and realise that they are affecting the economy, too.

Liger, a Puri Jagannath film, will see Ronit Roy and Ramya Krishnan playing crucial roles in the movie, with American boxer Mike Tyson joining in for a cameo.

One of the reasons why the #BoycottLSC trend took off on social media was because of Aamir Khan's 2015 interview, as reported by Zee News, where he had said that his then-wife Kiran Rao felt unsafe in the country and that she had also suggested they move out of India because of the growing intolerance.

Soon after Vijay lended his support to Aamir Khan, the boycott army went on Twitter and started asking for Liger to be boycotted, too. The 'BoycottLigerMovie' hashtag is trending on several social media sites.

Liger is being released in multiple languages, such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, and will hit the theatres on August 25, 2022.
