The sports thriller, directed by Puri Jagannadh, is a multilingual film that also stars Ananya Pandey, Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy
Actor Vijay Deverakonda's much-anticipated sports action thriller Liger has commenced a new schedule in Goa on Wednesday. The Goa schedule will have the team canning several high octane action sequences and crucial scenes from the film. Liger is directed by Puri Jagannadh, jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta. Ananya Pandey plays the leading lady, while Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Deshpande and Getup Srinu are cast in supporting roles.
Sharing a poster from the film sets, Vijay Deverakonda tweeted, "BLOOD. SWEAT. VIOLENCE. #LIGER Shoot Resumes." The poster features Vijay Deverakonda as an MMA fighter, eager to get into the boxing court. Several international fighters have been roped in for the ongoing schedule and will fight it out with the actor. Popular stunt director from Thailand, Kecha is part of the film's crew. Vijay Deverakonda had undergone extensive training in mixed martial arts and bulked up to play the role.
The makers have already finished filming 60-70% of the film, while sequences featuring huge crowds for the boxing sequences remain to be shot. In a chat with popular anchor Suma on her channel earlier this year, Vijay Deverakonda added, "We have completed major portions of the film that don't involve many people. The film has several scenes that demand hundreds of people on set and we want to work in a safe environment when the pandemic situation is better in the country. We are waiting to shoot the scenes with large crowds in the remaining schedules."
Puri Connects and Dharma Productions are collaborating for the film production. Vishnu Sarma is the film's cinematographer, while Junaid Siddiqui and Jonny Shaik Basha are on board as editor and art director respectively. Indian Idol singer Shanmukha Priya has also lent her voice for a number in the film recently.
