The prospects of Vijay Sethupathi coming aboard the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan have surely stirred up the internet to a great effect. Several reports emerged in the recent past suggesting that the makers of Jawan have been keen on casting Sethupathi as the film’s lead antagonist but one still sought an official confirmation regarding this. Well, it would seem that the wait is finally over as the latest online report confirms the Tamil star’s inclusion in the upcoming Hindi film directed by Atlee.

According to an exclusive Peepingmoon report, Vijay Sethupathi has replaced Rana Daggubati as the chief villain opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. As revealed to the publication by a source close to the team, it was upon Shah Rukh Khan’s imploration that Sethupathi agreed to star in the film and is said to have even cleared out his busy schedule to make room for Jawan. SRK has openly professed his admiration for Vijay Sethupathi as an actor and one can expect their on-screen collaboration to be nothing short of a spectacle.

An official confirmation from the makers of Jawan about Vijay Sethupathi's inclusion remains pending as of this moment.

As far as Rana Daggubati is concerned, the Virata Parvam actor was compelled to back out of the project citing health concerns and scheduling conflicts.

Vijay Sethupathi is expected to join the sets of Jawan by the end of August, as part of the new schedule. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki in Budapest and will resume Jawan in Mumbai for a short production schedule before the Chennai stint. Jawan is likely to be a Christmas 2023 release.

Jawan will be helmed by Tamil director Atlee Kumar of Bigil and Mersal fame (both starring Vijay). The Hindi film, billed as a bona fide masala entertainer, has Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, and Yogi Babu as part of the principal cast with Deepika Padukone making a special appearance.

Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan will be seen playing lead roles in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action thriller Pathan, also starring John Abraham.
