Sanchita Shetty’s next film titled Azhagiye Kanne, to feature Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo appearance playing himself.

It was earlier announced that Sanchita Shetty will be appearing in a female oriented family drama titled Azhagiye Kanne. The movie is directed by R. Vijayakumar. The filmmaker is the former associate of director Seenu Ramasamy, who directed movies like Dharma Durai and Thenmerku Paruvakaatru. The upcoming movie of Shetty will feature Vijay Sethupathi in a special cameo. According to the reports, the male lead’s character in the movie is an assistant director who will be narrating a script to Vijay Sethupathi, where the latter will be playing himself in the movie.
According to a report by TOI, the director, R Vijayakumar explains the reason behind his choice to select Sethupathi for this role. He said that the actor is well-liked by the audience and that he is like a brother to the director since the filming days of Thenmerku Paruvakaatru (which was Sethupathi’s first movie). he praised the actor by saying that he is someone who will provide help for aspiring filmmakers such as the director. Vijaykumar also shared his experience of filming with the actor, by saying that he was very cooperative during filming scenes. He mentioned that it was easy to work with the actor since he is a down-to-earth human being.
The director said, “He generously offered us his own office to shoot this scene because it is about an aspiring director narrating a script to him. We shot the scene on Friday, and wrapped it up within half an hour.”
Sanchita Shetty had also collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi in 2013’s well-acclaimed comedy-thriller, Soodhu Kavvum.
Bankrolled by Xavier Britto, Azhagiye Kanne will be featuring Sanchita Shetty as the female lead, where Leo Sivakumar (Dindigul Leoni’s son) will be playing opposite her. Lyrics for the songs will be penned by Vairamuthu, with NR Raghunathan as the music composer.
