​If the buzz on social media is to be believed, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi is all set to be seen in one of the most expensive web series made in south India. The series will be helmed by Manikandan of Kaaka Muttai fame and will stream on Disney + Hotstar. More details about the show are awaited. A poster, which is said to be from the series, is already doing the rounds on the internet. Though many of Vijay Sethupathi's projects had a direct release on OTT, this will be the first time that he will be seen in a web series. An official announcement is awaited.

Vijay Sethupathi and Manikandan had earlier worked together in films, Aandavan Kattalai and Kadaisi Vivayasi. Both the films were critically acclaimed. Aandavan Kattalai was a satire that featured Vijay Sethupathi, Ritika Singh,  Pooja Devariya, Nassar and Yogi Babu, and the plot revolved around the struggles of two men hailing from remote Tamil Nadu to acquire a passport to fly abroad. On the other hand, Kadaisi Vivasayi, featured an 85-year-old farmer named Nallandi, along with Vijay Sethupathi in an extended cameo along with Yogi Babu.The plot revolved around agriculture and why it was crucial to practise the traditional methods of farming. Manikandan also doubled as the producer of the film. Both the films were declared hits at the box office and opened to positive reviews.

Vijay Setthupathi has a slew of projects in his kitty, which includes the Hindi films, Jawan in which he will be seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Merry Christmas opposite Katrina Kaif, Mumbaikar ( a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Maanagaram), directed by Santosh Sivan,  Gandhi Talks, a silent film, Michael in which he will be seen opposite Sundeep Kishan and Vetri Maaran's two-part drama, Viduthalai, which is one of the most anticipated releases of the acclaimed actor.
