Vijayakanth gets discharged from hospital; DMDK releases official statement

Vijayakanth, senior actor-politician has been making headlines lately with the reports on health issues. The Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam founder was admitted to a private hospital on November 18, 2023. The Captain Prabhakar actor’s health deteriorated after a couple of days, leaving his family and fans in deep worry. However, now the latest updates have confirmed that Vijayakanth has recovered completely.

Vijayakanth gets discharged from the hospital

Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) released an official statement on December 11, Monday, and confirmed that Vijayakanth has been recovered and discharged from the hospital. The party also confirmed that the senior actor-politician has returned home with his family. Later, the hospital also released an official statement, confirming that the Chatriyan has fully recovered.

“Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam leader Captain Vijayakanth has been recovered completely and discharged from the hospital. We would also like to inform all that he returned home on December 11, Monday morning,” translates the official statement released by DMDK, on social media.

Vijayakanth’s health condition

For the uninitiated, Vijayakanth has been suffering from lung-related illness for the past few years. The beloved Captain of the Tamil film industry was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after he suffered a high fever and shortness of breathing, on November 18, 2023. The veteran actor’s health condition deteriorated further, and he was put on pulmonary support for a few days.

However, Vijayakanth’s wife and DMDK treasurer Premalatha later confirmed that the senior actor is recovering and is expected to return home, with a couple of video messages that were released on social media. She also urged the Captain’s fans and well-wishers to not believe any rumors about his health condition, that have been circulating on the internet. Later, she also revealed a selfie with Vijayakanth and their elder son Shanmugha Pandian on social media, to confirm that the actor is doing fine.
