The first look poster of Vijay’s upcoming film Beast, which is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has already been celebrated by the Tamil superstar’s fans. However, if the initial plans had fell in place, #Thalapathy65 would have been the sequel of Vijay’s 2012 blockbuster.
The Ghajini director, who had also collaborated with Vijay for Kaththi and Sarkar, had pitched the sequel for Vijay’s 65th film but the Tamil superstar had turned it down last year. While Vijay has now finished the first schedule of Beast, Muragadoss is now reportedly planning to use the script he had pitched for another movie.
The film will reportedly have Kamal Haasan in the lead and will be a Telugu production that will be released in multiple languages. Speculations are rife that Mahesh Babu is also part of the film and that the filmmaker is currently working on the script.
While Kamal and Muragadoss have confirmed that they will be working together soon, there still has not been an official confirmation whether the script will be a follow-up of Thuppakki or a completely new one. It does seems unlikely that the filmmaker will make a sequel without Vijay.
Thuppakki, which was remade in Bollywood as Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, follows an army officer who is on a mission to track down and destroy a terrorist sleeper cell. The film also had Kajal Aggarwal and Jayaram as part of the cast.
