The film, helmed by Vamshi Paidipally, is bankrolled by Dil Raju
A still from Varisu
With just two days to go for Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu to hit screens, the promotions for the film have reached a feverish peak. In the meantime, the makers have launched the Hindi trailer of the film and the fans of the actor are an excited lot. The makers today announced that the Telugu version of the film titled Varasudu, has been pushed to January 14, thus providing space for Telugu releases Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. This comes after pressure from the Telugu Film Producers Council that preference be given to original Telugu releases for Sankranthi. The council had already sent a notice regarding the same. The Hindi version, on the other hand, will hit screens on January 13.
Varisu FDFS opens at 4am on January 11 and theatre owners have opted for equal screens for both films releasing on Pongal- Thunivu and Varisu. The tickets have already been sold out completely and at some places, are being sold for exorbitant rates. The pre-release event of the film is being held today, but the main star cast has been missing from the promotions. The event was only attended by the film's producer Dil Raju and Telugu actor Srikanth. It was during this event that Dil Raju announced the postponement of the release date. Vijay is likely to watch a special show of the film today.
Varisu is said to be a family drama cum action entertainer with an ensemble star cast including Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, Shaam, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Sangeetha Krish, Jayasudha, SJ Suryah, VTV Ganesh to name a few. The censor certificate revealed the runtime of the film as 2 hours 50 minutes. The team was trying to release both the Telugu and Tamil version on the same day, but since the Telugu release has been postponed, we hear that Vijay is not happy with the development.
