We had told you National Award-winning stunt choreographer-duo Anbariv were making their directorial debut with actor Raghava Lawrence's Durga. However, owing to their prior stunt choreography commitments, they opted out of the project a couple of months ago.
Now, according to sources, Raghava Lawrence has decided to take over the direction himself. But, we await an official confirmation. At present, we hear, team Durga has been filming an action sequence at EVP Film City, which is on the outskirts of Chennai.
Interestingly, Ram of KGF-fame is playing the baddie in this one.
Stunt choreographers turning directors wasn't something new. Stunt Silva, recently, made his directorial debut with Chithirai Sevvanam. The stunt choreography credits of Anbariv include Kaithi, Beast, KGF: Chapter 2, and Vikram.
Although the details about Durga have been kept under wraps, a promotional image was released by the makers, several months ago, that featured Lawrence with a long and white beard and moustache.
Lawrence has been producing his films for quite a few years, and one of the biggest hits from his belt was the Kanchana aka Muni series. Despite being scared of ghosts, in Kanchana, Lawrence got possessed by one, which won him many fans, both young and old alike. We can expect the same from Durga. A film that is full of humour, action and sentiment will be produced by Lawrence, too.
Meanwhile, his upcoming films include Rudhran and Adhigaaram.
Directed by S Kathiresan, who is also producing the film, Rudhran stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead. Interestingly, the film was supposed to hit the screens on the same day as KGF 2.
Adhigaaram has the script by filmmaker Vetrimaaran. In addition to penning the film, he's also co-producing it, under his home banner, Grass Root Film Company, along with S Kathiresan.
The film will be directed by Vetrimaaran's former associate, Durai Senthil Kumar, who previously directed Ethir Neechal, Kaakai Sattai, Kodi, and Pattas.
Adhigaaram has a music score by SS Thaman. The composer has previously worked with Raghava Lawrence in the Kanchana franchise and Shivalinga. Adhigaaram marks the fifth collaboration of the actor-composer duo. Raghava Lawrence was last seen in Kanchana 3.
