Vikram gets embroiled in a new controversy; a case filed against Kamal Haasan?
Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan has always been a favourite child of controversy. In the past, he had been attacked by different groups, seeking a ban on his films, including Thevar Magan, Vasool Raja MBBS, Hey Ram, Virumandi, Dasavatharam, Vishwaroopam, Uttama Villain; for different reasons.

Now, according to reports, a fresh complaint has been filed with the Chennai Police Commissioner against Vikram's first single, Pathala Pathala.

Written and sung by Kamal Haasan himself, the foot-tapping kuththu number has lyrics that point fingers at the Union Government (Ondriyam), unapologetically. (Because of the fault of the Centre, we are left with nothing!) The complaint demands such lines be removed from the song.

Pathala Pathala, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has raked in 10 million views on YouTube. And, still counting...

The film, produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal International, is set to hit screens on June 3. Vikram marks the return of Kamal Haasan, who didn't have a release for the past four years. His latest theatrical release was Vishwaroopam 2.

Interestingly, Vikram also has Suriya playing a cameo. Earlier, Suriya made a special appearance in Kamal Haasan's Manmadhan Ambu, in a song.

A report published by the Cinema Express reads, "Fan theories further claim that Vikram is set in the same universe as Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi starring Karthi. Both the films also feature Narain (Anjaathey, Thambikottai) as a cop, speculated to be the same person."

The trailer and audio launch of Vikram will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, on May 15.

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles. The rest of the cast includes Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Shivani Narayanan, Hareesh Peradi, and Gayathrie Shankar, among others.

Vikram has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj.
