Kerala fans are known for their unconditional love towards Tamil superstars and their movies. Kamal Haasan has had a considerably large fanbase in Kerala for a long time now and his latest, Vikram, has set a new box office record in the state.
Vikram has now become the highest grossing Tamil movie in the state of Kerala. According to industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, the movie has now minted Rs 22.29 crores in the state after its first five days, collecting Rs. 3.02 crore on Tuesday.
“In 5 days the @ikamalhaasan film becomes all time number 1 #Tamil grosser at the #Kerala box-office. #VikramBlockbuster” he wrote on Twitter. Earlier reports had also stated that the action entertainer has crossed the Rs. 200 crore milestone at the worldwide box office.
The movie had a massive opening of Rs. 5.02 crore in Kerala, which increased on day 2 and day 3 following excellent word of mouth. The movie has now gone past Vijay’s Bigil as the highest Tamil grosser, with Bigil having reportedly made Rs. 20 crore in the state.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie also stars a number of Malayalam actors such as Fahadh Faasil, Chemban Vinod Jose, Hareesh Peradi, Kalidas Jayaram, and Narain. The movie also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie Shankar, Ramesh Thilak, and Jaffer Sadiq among others.
“Lokesh delivers what he has promised to fans of Kamal Haasan and ardent action movie lovers. But the convoluted screenplay, high number of characters and limited wow moments restrict the overall experience.'' read the movie’s review on OTTplay.
Bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International, the movie has also done great business at the international box office. The movie, which features Kamal Haasan in an action avatar, is now available in theatres around the country.
