Vikram Ravichandran’s debut film Trivikrama’s release date to be announced on May 10

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck in early 2020, Vikram Ravichandran, the younger son of Crazy Star V Ravichandran, was in the midst of winding up the shoot of his launchpad, Trivikrama, directed by HS Sahana Murthy. The actor and his co-star Akanksha Sharma had just returned from a Thailand schedule and had two songs pending when lockdowns came into effect. The film, which also stars Akshara Gowda as the second lead, has since been completed and the team is now looking at announcing its release date. Trivikrama will be Vikram’s pan-India launch, with versions in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, the release date of which will be announced on May 10.

Vikram, incidentally, was earlier supposed to be launched by filmmaker Nagashekar, with a multilingual project called Novembernalli Naanu Avalu, which was announced way back in 2017. The film was stalled shortly after, and became Abishek Ambareesh’s debut, Amar, instead. It took Vikram then a good two years to figure out his debut project, Trivikrama, which is a love story. While the film has been shot in Kannada, it is being dubbed into Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi given its cast, including Rohit Roy, Jayaprakash, Tulasi, Shivamani, Chikkanna, Adi Lokesh, Sadhu Kokila, Suchendra Prasad, among others.

Director HS Sahana Murthy had earlier made films like Rose and Mass Leader. The movie has music by Arjun Janya, while Santhosh Rai Pathaje handled the camera work. The film has been produced by Somanna and Suresh under the banner Gowri Entertainers. The makers had teased in early 2021 that they were gunning for a May release, with Ravichandran’s birthday, May 30, the most likely date. While they were not able to meet this date a year ago, we wonder if that is the plan this time around. Since May 30 is a Monday, could Trivikrama be gunning for May 27 instead or will it be a June 24 release, as is being rumoured? Well, guess we will have to wait till Tuesday for confirmation.
