Vikram Vedha was a big success following its release in 2017, with the directing duo of Pushkar and Gayathri receiving big praise. As the duo get ready for the release of the Hindi remake, they have now stated that the version has not been diluted for the Hindi audience.

"For too long, we as an industry have underestimated the audience. For us, when 'Vikram Vedha' released in Tamil, I remember that night the big thing was, 'Would people get it? Would people enjoy it?' Somewhere, there has been a positive reaffirmation from that experience," the director told PTI as reported by Times of India.

They were further asked if they had to dilute the content in any ways to help it reach the wider Hindi audience to which they replied, “Not at all”, and that the idea that filmmakers have to keep it simple for it to connect with people is now changing.

They further added that there are complex stories which are working now, which people are enjoying and that the need to simplify the story is not there anymore.

The duo helmed the 2017 Tamil movie which had Vijay Sethupathi and R. Madhavan in the lead. The neo-noir crime thriller follows a cop trying to take down an infamous gangster and what happens when the two of them come face to face. Hrithik Roshan stars as the gangster in the Hindi remake while Saif Ali Khan essays the role of the policeman.

Vikram Vedha is set to hit theatres on September 30, 2022. Pushkar and Gayathri are currently awaiting the release of the web series, Suzhal: The Vortex, which they have created and written. The show will drop on Amazon Prime Video on June 17.
