Vikrant Massey’s star is on the rise, and the actor is soon becoming the go-to guy for crime thrillers. Even as his fans are awaiting the release of his upcoming movie Forensic, the actor has now been roped in to play the lead in another crime thriller, which will be directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, who was previously attached to helm Shahid Kapoor’s Bull.
The upcoming movie, which is titled Sector 36, will see the Haseen Dillruba actor playing the role of a cop. The movie, which is set to go on floors later this year, is based on the infamous Nithari serial murders or Noida serial killings that had happened in 2006. Vikrant will reportedly be playing a police officer investigating the case.
The murders came to light in 2006 after remains of children were found from the drain of a house in Noida. Businessman Moninder Singh, who was the owner of the house, and his help Surinder Koli were arrested and convicted in the case, in which they were accused of luring and killing 19 victims. The serial murders were also the source for the documentary The Karma Killings, which is streaming on Netflix, as well as the BBC documentary Slumdog Cannibal.
Sector 36 will be produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner Sector 36 and helmed by Aditya, whose film Bull has now been shelved. As per a report in PeepingMoon, the filmmaker has done thorough research to show the horrifying real-life incidents on screen.
Meanwhile, Vikrant is gearing up for the release of Forensic, which is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film starring Tovino Thomas and Mamta Mohandas. The movie has him playing a medico-legal advisor to the police, who are investigating the case involving a suspected serial killer. The movie is set to premiere on ZEE5 on June 4.
