Anup Bhandari's Magnum opus Vikrant Rona has finally made its way into the cinema halls and just as expected, the film has set the cash registers ringing. Kiccha Sudeep's magnetic charm as the leading man and the technical finesse of the film have become the main draws for the audience; while the opening day started on an encouraging note, things only picked up along the day as the word-of-mouth publicity helped the on-spot ticket sales.
Latest trade reports have revealed that Vikrant Rona has grossed close to Rs. 35 Crores over the first two days of its theatrical run. The Day #1 was particular fruitful for the makers with the film earning Rs. 23.15 crores (gross figures) but later encountered a considerable dip on the 2nd day with only Rs. 9.85 crores. The home state of Karnataka has proven to be the biggest contributor with Rs. 17.8 crores on day #1 and Rs. 7.25 crores on the second day: the opening day collections are the third highest opening for a Kannada film in Karnataka.
The film is only behind K.G.F: Chapter 2 (Rs. 26.50 crores) and the Puneeth Rajkumar starrer James (Rs. 22.6 crores): incidentally, all the top three films came out in 2022.
Vikrant Rona’s opening day nett collections are around Rs. 19.5 crores with day #2 earning the makers Rs. 8.3 crores.
In this vein, Vikrant Rona has a very crucial first weekend lined up ahead. The film remains uncontented in Karnataka but has stiff competition coming in from Hindi: Ek Villain Returns, starring John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria, has earned close to Rs. 15 crores (nett figures) so far (Days 1 and 2). While the critics have shared mixed reviews of the film, social media has deemed it an interesting watch that echoes the same charm as the first part.
Ramarao On Duty, the Ravi Teja starrer, will offer competition in the Telugu-dominated regions while the Malayam film Paapan (starring Suresh Gopi) becomes the biggest hurdle for Vikrant Rona.
Written and directed by Anup Bhandari, Vikrant Rona stars Kiccha Sudeep, Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok, and others. Jack Manjunath and Shalini Manjunath of Shalini Artss have produced the film with Alankar Pandian coming onboard as the co-producer.
