Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited Vikrant Rona is supposed to be one of the biggest releases for the Kannada superstar. Fans are eagerly waiting for the film to drop on July 28 and hopeful that a midnight show or shows, as the case maybe, will start-off the Vikrant Rona frenzy. However, speaking to an online news portal last week, producer Manjunath Gowda, who is also distributing the film in Karnataka, had said that he was bound to follow government rules, which restrict show timings.

The earliest that the team can start is at 6-6.30 am, he said, adding that the last show would have to begin latest by 10.30 pm. However, when online advance bookings opened for the region on Sunday, the earliest shows have been slotted at 8.30 am only. There’s no news of shows earlier than that. Incidentally, Sudeep’s last release, Kotigobba 3 was supposed to have early morning shows (EMS), but were then cancelled. Eventually, the film did not come out on its proposed start date, owing to payment issues on the part of the distributor, and released a day later.

For fans, midnight and early morning shows are generally a celebration, and shows their love and dedication towards a star. It is also about getting the opportunity to be among the first to see their favourite actor’s film on the big screen. In the past, several big-ticket releases had midnight starts to their box-office campaigns.

As of yesterday, the team of Vikrant Rona had confirmed about 3,500 screens globally for the film’s multi-lingual release. In the absence of confirmation from the team if they will have 6 am shows, bookings for 8.30 am have not picked up tempo. Fans are still hopeful of EMS. “I am totally confused to book 10 am show bcoz i am waiting for 6 am shows i am waiting for thier confirmation hope they announce it soon,” wrote one, to which another replied with a screenshot of a text exchange between him and producer-distributor Manjunath, with the latter confirming that there will be early morning shows, but offering no other details. Yet another fan wrote, "Plus few screens are showing both 3D and 2D. So we dono which will it be if there's an EMS. Even if we wait and it's not 3D or 2D(ones preference) then it'll be kind of mood off. They should release all shows as much as possible."

Guess Vikrant Rona fans will continue to have an anxious wait till we hear from the team.
