Vimanam, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual caught the imagination of one and all through its interesting trailers. The film which has a father-son bonding story released on June 9th and had Samuthirakani playing the lead along with Anasuya Bharadwaj in a special role.
The family drama has taken a slow start at the box office in Telugu states and has made poor numbers on day one. As per the latest update, the Siva Prasad directorial made only 50 lakhs in Telugu states. These are very bad collections as the film was aggressively promoted by the makers. In Tamil too, the film has opened to a very dull occupancy.
As the word of mouth is just below par, the film needs to pick during the weekend otherwise things will be very hard for the makers. Though the story of Vimanam looks a bit routine, the new-age setup and realistic approach taken by director Siva Prasad Yanala looked interesting in the film. But still, the film has been panned by the critics.
Anasuya Bharadwaj plays the role of a sex worker and she has been trolled for choosing a substantial role in Vimanam. Dhanraj and Rahul Ramakrishna play supporting roles in this film which is about a father going all out to fulfill his son's last wish. Vimanam has music by Charan Arjun and Hanu Ravuri penned the dialogues.
On the other hand, OTTplay already reported that the OTT rights of the film have been bagged by Zee5 and the film will start streaming on June 30. Smauthirakani, who is being appreciated for his lead role is also directing a film titled BRO starring Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej in lead roles.
