National Award-winning film director Aman Sachdeva is gearing up for the USA premiere of his new film Opium. The film has received three nominations at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF 2023).

Opium is nominated under the Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Film category.

The film is a collection of intriguing stories that explore human emotions associated with religion. The themes of religion and faith are woven throughout this film's five distinct realms.

Just as people wish the philosophical progression of the universe to be, the stories eventually move from dystopia to utopia.

Opium stars Vinay Pathak, Sharib Hashmi, Manu Rishi Chadha, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, and Kritika Deo, along with Dilip Prabhavalkar as a supporting actor and the child actor Kabir Pahwa.

Speaking about the nomination, Aman said, "I am honoured to have been nominated in three categories for Opium at the New York Indian Film Festival 2023. I believe that this is a nod to the hard work that my team has put in. I congratulate my cast and crew for the same".

In the recent past, Opium received appreciation at different film festivals and global audiences. The film premiered at the 35th Tokyo international film festival, where it was nominated for Best Film in the Asian Future Award. It also featured at the International Film Festival of Kerala in the Indian Cinema Now Category.

The New York Indian Film Festival will be held between May 11 and May 14 in New York.
