Vinay Pathak's Gram Chikitsalay faces plagiarism accusations from Kolkata filmmaker | Know the full story

The Viral Fever is once again all set to release another comedy show, Gram Chikitsalay. It will land on Amazon Prime Video on May 9. However, ahead of the release, the show faced plagiarism accusations from Kolkata filmmaker Anindya Bikas Datta. He specifically accused Vinay Pathak of plagiarism in the new series. He claimed that Gram Chikitsalay allegedly mirrors his Quack Shankar script.

Gram Chikitsalay faces plagiarism accusations

Kolkata filmmaker Anindya Bikash Datta, known for films such as Kiriti O Kalo Bhromor, Bonku Babu, and more, accused Vinay Pathak of plagiarism of Gram Chikitsalay. He claimed that the series has similarities to his own registered screenplay, Quack Shankar. In his Facebook post, Datta revealed that he shared his script with Pathak in 2021, hoping that the actor would play one of the lead roles.

A part of his post read, "On viewing the trailer of the upcoming Amazon show, I find that the central storyline of my script and the associated characters have been directly lifted and used in an upcoming show named Gram Chikitsalay. And surprise — it's none other than Mr. Pathak who is essaying the lead role."

Meanwhile, Datta also mentioned that Quack Shankar is still in pre-production and talks are underway with other actors for the lead role.
