The actor won many fans in the Telugu land with his performance in Doctor
Vinay Rai is not exactly new to Telugu audiences. He had one of the finest albums in his career with a Telugu film - Vaana, directed by MS Raju (the remake of the Kannada blockbuster Mungaru Male). Neevalle Neevalle, the Telugu dubbed version of his Tamil rom-com Unnale Unnale and the horror comedy Aranmanai, enjoys a fan base even today. Vinay also earned rave reviews for his stylish baddie act in Siva Karthikeyan’s Doctor.
He returned to Telugu cinema with the action thriller Gandeevadhari Arjuna last year and has two other interesting films lined up for Sankranthi 2024. Yes, he’s probably the only actor to have two Telugu films releasing within a day’s gap next year. Vinay has bagged meaty roles in two biggies - Prasanth Varma’s superhero film HanuMan and Ravi Teja’s action drama Eagle.
While HanuMan releases on January 12, 2024 in over 10 languages, Eagle, hitting screens on January 13, is also a pan-Indian film that’s expected to have a wide global release. In both films, Vinay gets to play the antagonist. He represents the evil force in HanuMan, a fantasy tale with mythological elements, which has the aesthetic appeal of a superhero film.
HanuMan’s trailer indicates that he has several high-voltage action episodes where he’s pitted against Teja Sajja. The trailer of Eagle, released yesterday, has only a few shots featuring Vinay, but it suggests that he has a key role in triggering the transformation of Ravi Teja’s character. The makers are likely to have kept Vinay’s role under wraps to ensure a surprise element in theatres.
The actor’s witnessed a major turnaround with Mysskin’s Thupparivaalan in 2017 and he has been flooded with offers ever since. He’s also a part of a Malayalam film Identity, which features Tovino Thomas and Trisha in important roles. His major appearances, apart from Gandeevadhari Arjuna, were for Mammootty’s Christopher and Hiphop Thamizha Adhi’s Veeran.
