Vinay Rajkumar’s first major release since 2019, Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe came to theatres on February 8 and received fairly positive response, both in terms of reviews and box office collections. At the time of its release, though, the film directed by Simple Suni, did not have satellite and OTT deals in place, which, we are now told have come through.
Speaking to OTTplay, Suni revealed that the OTT streaming rights of Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe have been picked up by Amazon Prime Video, while Star Suvarna holds the television rights. The streaming date is yet to be announced by Prime Video, but now that the 30-day window is over, it can be expected to drop any day now.
Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe was Vinay’s first tryst with a romantic comedy, and his maiden collaboration with Suni. The actor played an aspiring music composer called Athishay in the film, whose two aims in life included turning composer and finding the girl whose voice matches the rhythm of his heart. When he then hears that voice and rushes towards it, he sees Madhura (Mallika Singh) holding a microphone and assumes it is her.
There’s a budding romance, while Madhura’s career as a playback singer also takes off. But then Athishay and Madhura both realize that the reason they got together was based on an assumption, which turned out to be false. Will Athishay find the true owner of that voice that ‘stole’ his heart?

Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe is a musical with several songs by composer Veer Samarth, of which 4, Ninyaarele, Gunu Gunugu, Ella Maatannu and Mookanaagabeku stand out in particular, with the latter the most relevant to the plot. The film’s ensemble cast also includes debutant Swathishta Krishnan, whose performance as Anuraga got her a lot of love from audiences.
Meanwhile, Simple Suni is currently prepping for the release of his next, the much-delayed Avatara Purusha 2 – Trishankupayanam, while Vinay has two films ready, Pepe and Andondittu Kaala.
