Vinay Rajkumar’s filmography is set to take an interesting turn when his next, Pepe releases. It will be the first time in his career that he takes on what is known in cinema parlance as a massy commercial role. The third-generation actor from the Rajkumar family, Vinay was not averse to that kind of cinema, but preferred to be associated with quality content. With Pepe, the actor has been assured of a balance between what he loves and what audiences love – there’s content and a cinematic experience.
The film, directed by Shreelesh S Nair, has a fair share of violence and bloodshed, and has, therefore, been certified A. The teaser of the film that was released a while ago, does not shed much light on the subject, but provides a sneak peek into the world Shreelesh and Vinay are presenting. The actor’s rugged look and the raw treatment of the content had created quite a buzz and from what we hear, the team is not far from presenting the film in theatres.
Shreelesh will announce the release date on August 14 at 5.07 pm, but according to the recent first song from the film, the team is looking at an August theatrical outing, which means it’s either on 23rd or 30th. The probability points towards the latter (August 30), even though, KRG Studios, which is distributing Pepe, is also handing the release of Rishab Shetty’s production Laughing Buddha on the same date. In fact, KRG Studios had pushed Laughing Buddha ahead by a week to give its production Powder a better shot on the 23rd.
Pepe pairs Vinay with Kajal Kunder, while Aruna Balraj, Sandhya Arekere, Yash Shetty, Bala Rajwadi, Kitty Sridhar, Medini Kelamane, among others are on the cast. Poornachandra Tejaswi fills in as composer, while Abhishek G Kasaragod is the cinematographer.
