Virata Parvam starring Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati in the lead hit theatres today, after much anticipation. A pre-release event for the movie took place on Wednesday and was attended by some big names from the industry, including actor Venkatesh Daggubati. The actor said that Sai Pallavi could get a National Award for her role in the movie.
"Sai Pallavi, Priyamani, Zarina Wahab, Naveen Chandra have given award-winning performances. Virataparvam is one of the best films of Sai Pallavi’s career. She played the role of Vennela so wonderfully. She will receive the National Award for her performance in the movie,” he said at the event as reported by The Indian Express.
The actor also said that he is happy that Rana Daggubati has done Virata Parvam and that he has worked on the film and character with a lot of dedication. The actor also congratulated the movie’s director, saying that Telugu cinema has found an honest filmmaker who has presented a different story.
Directed by Venu Udugula, the film revolves around a love story set during the Naxalite movement in 1990s Telangana. The movie received mixed following its release.
“Don’t go to Virata Parvam expecting yourself to be swept away by its ambitious premise. Instead, give it enough time to grow on you. There’s a timeless quality to the romance though the narrative isn’t consistently engaging. Sai Pallavi in an author-backed role is the lifeline of the film while Venu Udugula yet again proves he’s a storyteller to watch out for.” reads the movie’s review on OTTplay.
Also starring Priyamani, Nanditha Das, Naveen Chandra, Sai Chand, Benarji, Nagineedu, Zareena Wahab, Eswari Rao, Rahul Ramakrishna, Devi Prasad, Anand Ravi and Anand Chakrapani in important roles, the movie is bankrolled by Sudhakar Cherukuri and presented by Suresh Babu.
The action-romance is now available in theatres and will also stream on Netflix following its theatrical run.
