Viruman, starring Karthi and Aditi Shankar, has been runnning to packed houses since release

Karthi's latest release, the rural action entertainer Viruman has been running to packed houses. The film, directed by Muthaiaya, hit screens on August 12 and has opened to positive reviews from the audience. Viruman has been bankrolled by Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Production house. To celebrate the success of Viruman, the film's distributor, Sakthivelan of Sakthi Film Factory, recently gifted Suriya and Karthi a diamond bracelet. He also gifted a diamond to the film's director Muthaiya. The success meet of the film was held recently in Chennai.
Viruman marks the second collaboration between Karthi and Muthaiya after their successful film Komban. Viruman marks the debut of Aditi Shankar, daughter of ace director Shankar, as the leading lady. The doctor-turned-actress, too, has worn applause for her performance in the film. Karthi had stated that he would appear in a pucca local character in the film and he seem to have aced the character. The makers later added additional shows due to the high demand among the audience.
The supporting cast for the film includes Prakash Raj, Rajkiran, Vadivukkarasi, Manoj Bharathiraja, Soori, GM Sundar, Karunas, Vaiyapuri, Singampuli and to name a few. Music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the makers had recenly felicitated the composer for the hit songs in the film. The title track has been sung by none other than maestro Ilaiyaraaja himself. Cinematography is by Selvakumar SK and editing is by Venkat Raajen. The digital rights of the film have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video, while the satellite rights have been sold to Vijay TV.
Though the film was earlier slated to release on August 31, the makers decided to advance the release to August 12 as Vikram's Cobra, which was supposed to release on 12th pulled out of the race. Now, Cobra is gearing up to hit screens on August 31.
