While this year's Pongal does not come with any big projects releasing in theaters, there is some scope for excitement for the Tamil movie fans. The makers of Viruman starring Karthi have released the first look poster for the movie.
The poster was shared by the makers of the movie and many stars including Suriya, and features Karthi as a rural man who looks ready and focused to go to war with bad people. As intriguing as the actor looks in the rural avatar, he looks ready for action as well.
The rural action entertainer is the second movie starring Karthi that is backed by big brother Suriya. Their previous project together, Kadaikutty Singam in 2018 was a big success and was also set in a rural setting.
The movie is directed by Muthaiya, with whom Karthi has previously collaborated in the 2015 movie Komban, which was also a box office success. Their second project together, the movie has big hopes riding on it with fans expecting another entertainer after Karthi’s Kaithi.
Another interesting detail about the movie is about the casting of Aditi Shankar, the daughter of ace Tamil filmmaker Sankar. Reportedly playing a bold character from Madurai called Thenmozhi, it marks Aditi’s acting debut.
The movie is bankroleld by Suriya and Jyotika under their home banner 2D Entertainment, and the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Apart from Karthi and Aditi, Viruman also features Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, Soori, RK Suresh among others in supporting roles.
While an exact release date for the movie has not been revealed by the makers, the poster of the rural entertainer has slated the movie for a summer 2022 release.
