Sai Dharam Tej is returning to big-screen action yet again after a brief hiatus from cinema owing to a nasty road mishap. While he commenced working on the Telugu remake of Vinodhaya Sitham with his uncle and star Pawan Kalyan recently, his other film, Virupaksha, is gearing up for a release on April 21. Samyuktha Menon plays the female lead in the film directed by Karthik Dandu.
Produced by BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings, the film’s shoot was wrapped up recently. While the teaser of the film was to be launched earlier this week, it was pushed owing to the sudden death of a long-time loyalist of the ‘mega’ family. The teaser was finally unveiled today and it promises a gripping mystical thriller revolving around superstitions in a village.
The glimpse starts with an elderly man (Sai Chand) claiming that the village is experiencing from a strange, one of a kind problem and there can only be one solution for it. The teaser makes way for Sai Dharam Tej’s grand entry, where he says, ‘you must find a solution exactly where the problem is’ and a series of shots showcasing the village, action sequences and superstitions pique your curiosity.
The aesthetics and the action choreography of the film take you by surprise and the fantastic background score contributes to the tension in the teaser. With screenplay by Sukumar, the film has cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen and music by B Ajaneesh Loknath. Edited by Navin Nooli, Virupaksha’s production design is handled by Sri Nagendra Tangala.
Satish BKR and Ashok Bandreddi are the creative and executive producers for the thriller. Sync Cinema takes care of the sound design. Samyuktha Menon was also seen in the hit bilingual Sir/Vaathi this year alongside Dhanush. Her earlier films, Bheemla Nayak and Bimbisara, turned out to be successful at the box office as well. Sai Chand also played key roles in two films - Uppena and Kondapolam - featuring Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaisshnav Tej.
