Vishnu Manchu's first release in 2022, Ginna, is all set to entertain audiences starting tomorrow. Timed ideally for Diwali, Ginna is slated to hit screens simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam languages. The actor himself has produced the film under AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, while Eashaan Suryaa is the director. Kona Venkat has penned the story, screenplay for the film that features Payal Rajput, Sunny Leone as the female leads.

In the two preview shows hosted prior to its release, Vishnu Manchu is quite satisfied with the responses for the film. "We could sense the audiences were enjoying it. Even while making Dhee earlier, we had a great time and the rest was history. I don't know if the film will succeed on the lines of Dhee but I can confidently say that the intermission twist will surprise and even shock crowds. Even though I played the lead, I also liked the characters of Chammak Chandra and Vennela Kishore."

"The film will be riot and even my mom, mother-in-law clapped and enjoyed during the preview. It's with this confidence I say that Ginna will work at the box office. Action comedies have always worked well for me and all my hits belong to the same genre," he says. Vishnu admits to have made mistakes with a few of his choices in the past and Jinna, he mentioned, is an attempt to course-correct that.

Ginna is named after Vishnu's nickname in the film. "While his name is Gaali Nageswar Rao, people address him fondly as Ginna. He pulls everyone's leg and bluffs frequently. Whenever sets up a tent for a function, the marriage gets called off and he is perennially in debt. What's the way forward for him? I liked the idea and said yes to the film. Though a few hinted that the title may turn controversial, our intent was honest and we were determined to take the gamble."

What efforts go into his portrayal of his characters? "I asked a similar question to my dad once about his preparation for films like Peda Rayudu and Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary and I was surprised by his response. He told me 'the writer tells us the character and we perform, that's about it.' However, for Ginna, I had to make an effort to perfect Chittoor slang."

Sunny Leone was cast in the film as per the suggestion of writer Kona Venkat and Vishnu's journalist friend. "A couple of people whom I knew felt Sunny Leone would be apt for the role. While the basic idea for the film was given by G Nageswara Reddy, Kona Venkat fleshed out into a full-fledged script. Given G Nageswara Reddy was busy with other commitments, we went ahead with Eashaan Suryaa, a former protege of Srinu Vaitla." Ginna is also Vishnu's first collaboration with cinematographer Chota K Naidu.

Ginna being a story of four childhood friends, composer Anup Rubens reportedly felt the song about them should be sung by kids too. "The suggestion to rope in (my daughters) Ariana and Viviana came from me but Anup was tensed till the last moment. He heaved a sigh of relief after recording it and was a happy man. I hope both of them turn into good singers in the future. I'll definitely get them to sing frequently in the times to come. My son, for now, enjoys dancing on the stage," Vishnu shares.

From Prabhudeva to Prem Rakshith and Ganesh Acharya, several leading choreographers have worked on Ginna and they pushed Vishnu to give his best on the dance floor. He's also acquired the Telugu remake rights of Android Kunjappan that'll feature his father Mohan Babu in the lead. The much awaited sequel to Dhee with Srinu Vaitla will commence in January or February. He'll announce more projects as a producer this November.
