Vishnu Priya is a film that actor Shreyas Manju, the son of Kannada film producer K Manju, is very proud of. It’s a film that redefined acting for him, after a semi commercial movie like Paddehuli and a full-fledged one, Raana. Director VK Prakash, Shreyas had said, made a better actor of him, with the realistic portrayal of Vishnu in the film.

The trailer of the film was launched by Kiccha Sudeep, who has had words of wisdom for Shreyas over the last year or two. Speaking to Kannada Pichhar during the promotions of Vishnu Priya, Shreyas said that when he showed Sudeep a showreel that the team had prepared as a pitch for satellite and digital rights business deals, the superstar had urged him to release the film quickly, given that TV and OTT rights do not come by easily for Kannada cinema.

Sudeep also chided Shreyas that he’s not a big superstar yet to make a film every 2-3 years and said that he ought to do 2-3 movies in a year, something that he did in his early years. “Sudeep sir told me that acting is something that anyone can do, but not everyone has a good screen presence as well. ‘That’s god’s gift and you have that in Vishnu Priya’, he had said,” added Shreyas.

The actor says that what he’s taken back from what Sudeep said is that visibility is important for a newcomer like him. “I realize that I need to do multiple smaller films, with good content, that will reach audiences and strike a chord with them,” he says. Shreyas adds that he was initially a bit wary about doing a film that would not have typical ‘heroism’ in it, but going by the response to the trailer and the songs, he has realized that audiences are liking it because it is a far cry from the routine commercial dramas.
