It is a double dhamaka for Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal! Not only is he awaiting the release of Lal Salaam, an upcoming film in which he will be sharing screen space with Rajinikanth, but he has also completed 15 years in the industry. The actor made his debut with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, released in 2009, in which he played a kabbadi player.

Taking to social media, the actor penned an emotional note and thanked everyone who made it possible for him in his cinematic journey. Vishnu Vishal thanked director Suseethiran, who gave him the first chance, and mentioned how his 15th year became more special when he was seen sharing the screen with Rajinikanth.

"One thing that I am very proud of in my fifteen-year journey is the fact that I've always tried to do something different and amidst the 20 films that I have done so far, more than half of them are going to live forever in the hearts of Tamil cinema's audiences for generations to come," he penned.

On that note, here are six landmark films in the actor's career that are definitely worth watching.

Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 

Vishnu Vishal made a splashing debut with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, directed by Suseethiran, in 2009. A sports drama, the film showed the actor essaying a Kabbadi player from an impoverished background. The film tracks the journey of an underdog Kabaddi team consisting of non-professional players, striving to earn a mark and win the tournament organised in their area. The film also stars Kishore, Saranya Mohan, Soori, and others. The film is streaming on SunNXT.

Mundasupatti 

Vishnu Vishal plays a photographer in this quirky period comedy film set in a village. The film revolves around the hilarious struggles of a photographer who is stuck in a village where people have strong superstitious beliefs, especially the fear of getting photographed, which can lead to their death. The film was directed by Ram Kumar in 2014 and opened to positive reception and reviews. Nandita Swetha, Kaali Venkat, Anandaraj, and others play important roles in the film. It is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Jeeva 

Vishnu Vishal is probably the only actor in Tamil cinema who has done a handful of sports films. In line with this, 2014 saw the actor play an aspiring cricketer in Jeeva, in which he once again teamed up with Soori and director Suseenthiran. Jeeva is one of the early Tamil films to highlight the struggles of a commoner to enter cricket and play for the Indian team. The film highlights the politics, trials and tribulations one has to face in the country to play for the same country. The film is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Ratsasan 

In 2018, with Ratsasan, Vishnu Vishal donned the khaki uniform and played a cop by collaborating with Ram Kumar once again after Mundasupatti. The crime thriller is about an up-and-coming film director who wants to make it big in cinema but ends up becoming a police official following the demise of his father. The rest of the film revolves around the protagonist trying to solve a serial killer case. The film is available on Prime Video.

Gatta Kusthi 

Gatta Kusthi is yet another sports drama, but with a twist. Co-starring Aishwarya Lekshmi, the film has Vishnu Vishal play a male chauvinist who wants a wife, abiding by his regressive rules and thought process. Aishwarya plays an aspiring wrestler who gets married to him. The film revolves around how the husband comes out of his misogynistic thoughts while his wife pursues her passion. The film is streaming on Netflix.
