Vishwak Sen has been going through a lean patch in his career, as his last few films flopped big time at the box office. Sen's last release, Laila, was brutally trolled by the media and audience alike, and the Gangs of Godavari star went into a sort of hiding. He has now come out of nowhere and announced a new film titled Cult. The action drama was launched in Hyderabad by Magadheera fame Allu Aravind.

Vishwak Sen to act and direct Cult

The special aspect of Cult is that the Gaami actor is not only playing the main lead but also directing the film. This marks his third directorial after Falaknuma Das and Das Ka Dhamki, which was a decent hit at the box office. Cult has been announced at a time when Sen is experiencing a lull in his career. Taking on the responsibility of directing a film at such a time is a big risk, but Sen has gone ahead and done just that.

The shooting of Cult also kicked off today at the same venue where the film was launched. Yet another highlight of the film is that it will be released simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi, Japanese, and Spanish. This is quite interesting, and it is still unknown why Sen chose to release the film in Japanese, English, and Spanish. He says Cult has an international theme and will suit the sensibilities of audiences worldwide.

Tharun Bhascker, of Pelli Choopulu and Keedaa Cola fame, will pen the dialogues for the film, which is quite surprising, to say the least. Cult is also notable for the fact that it won't be released in Kannada, Malayalam, or Tamil. There is no clarity on why Vishwak chose international languages over other South Indian ones.

The Ori Devuda actor has been working on Cult for a long time now and says that audiences will be surprised, as such a subject has never been explored before. Gayatri Bharadwaj and Yagnya Turlapati play the female leads in this film, which is based on a real-life incident that happened in Vietnam.

Cult is being produced by Tarak Cinemas and Vanmaye Creations, with none other than Ravi Basrur composing the music. This is a big project and a lot of money is being spent on Vishwak Sen and his story. Stay tuned for more updates.
