Telugu actor Vishwak Sen's recent release Laila had received negative reviews majorly, with critics calling out the vulgarity and crass portrayal. Following this, the actor let out a statement recently seeking apology on behalf of his film.
Laila is a 2025 Telugu film which released in theatres recently. The film stars Vishwak Sen in the lead role. He plays the role of an owner of beauty parlour who lands in a trouble and disguises himself as a woman to escape the police.
The film released on February 14, and about a week later and barrage of negative reviews for the film, Vishwak Sen apologised for his film's failure. He acknowledged that his recent films have not met the expectations and that he would be fully accepting the constructive criticism that his last film received.
"I sincerely apologise. My intention has always been to bring something fresh to the audience and I deeply respect the feedback I've received... If I make a bad film, you have every right to criticize me because it was you who stood by me with unconditional love when I had no one,” Vishwak’s statement said.
The actor also said that he will choose to do good films in the future and expressed his gratitude to producers and distributors who trusted him and supported his journey. He also ended his note promising that he will back with good scripts.
Laila directed by Ram Narayan, was majorly called out for its vulgarity and did not find redemption with any positive point for the film. OTTplay review of the film said, "Cringe-worthy dialogues, cheap tricks, and over-the-top situations bring it down in no time. Vishwak Sen needs to choose better scripts if he wants to uphold his talent, as films like Laila will only tarnish the good reputation he has built over the years."
