Vivek and Shiva to host Amazon Prime Video's comedy reality show, LOL: Enga Siri Paappom

The one-of-its-kind unscripted reality comedy series in Tamil, featuring six episodes and 10 contestants, will start streaming from August 27

LOL is a popular international comedy format which has been presented by the Amazon Prime Video platform in different countries. Its Indian edition, titled LOL: Hasse Toh Phasse in Hindi, hosted by Bollywood actors Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi, was premiered in April this year, with notable TV and stand-up comedians as its participants. Now, the streaming platform has announced its Tamil version, which as been titled LOL: Enga Siri Paappom, which will start premiering from August 27. The unscripted comedy reality series, which will be available for viewers across the world, will have legendary comedian Padmashri awardee, late Vivek and actor Shiva as its hosts in the Tamil version. 

In addition to this, the show will feature ten popular Tamil comedians, including Premgi Amaren, Sathish, RJ Vignesh Kanth, Maya S Krishnan, Harathi Ganesh, Pugazh, Abhishek Kumar, Bhargav Ramakrishnan, Powerstar Srinivasan and Syama Harini competing against each other under the same roof.   

Vivek, who was busy with a few films in his kitty, passed away in April following a cardiac arrest. Actor Shiva, one of the hosts of the show, said in a statement that the show is special for him as it was his last shoot with the legendary actor, who also happens to be his favourite entertainer. Shiva, who expressed happiness to have associated with Amazon Prime Video to bring this first-of-its-kind show to Tamil audience, added that he had a great time hosting the show along with Vivek.  

While competing against each other for six continuous hours, all the ten contestants in the show are required to follow two rules; make others in the house laugh and ensure that they don't laugh themselves. In addition to this, the show has one more golden rule; you laugh, you lose. The winner of the show, produced by SOL Production Pvt Ltd, will receive a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.
