Vivek Athreya made heads turn with his last film, Saripodaa Sanivaram, starring Jersey star Nani. The film ended as a smash hit and grossed just over Rs 100 crore in its full run. He has now signed a film with Mythri Movie Makers of Pushpa fame. The noted banner is producing big films in Tamil these days, and their last release, Good Bad Ugly, earned them huge profits.
A source close to the team has revealed to us that Mythri Movie Makers has approached superstar Rajinikanth for a biggie. Going into the details, Vivek Athreya has penned a solid script with the Petta and Annaatthe actor in mind. The news is that Rajini liked the basic idea and has asked for a full-fledged narration.
One of the producers of Mythri Movie Makers, Naveen Yerneni, will soon head to Chennai along with Vivek to narrate the script to Rajini. If he likes the story, the project will be locked. Rajini has completed the shooting of Coolie and is now busy with Jailer 2. If the star hero signs this biggie, it could be a turning point in his career.
To date, Vivek has directed Mental Madhilo, Brochevarevarura, and Ante Sundaraniki. Of late, big stars have been preferring Telugu directors for their films, as seen with Gopichand Malineni, who recently made Jaat with Sunny Deol. But making a film with Rajinikanth is a different ball game altogether.
Rajinikanth charges a hefty fee, but Mythri Movie Makers have no issues paying the amount to bring the superstar on board. They have made some of the biggest films in the past and are ready for more. As of now, their new Tamil film, Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, was announced a few days ago.
They aim to make films in all Indian languages and have now set their sights on Tamil cinema. If they manage to get Rajini on board, things will reach a whole new level.
