Kaduva, the Malayalam actioner starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Samyuktha Menon and Vivek Oberoi in the lead, will also have grand release in Telugu on June 30. The lead actors were in Hyderabad to launch the Telugu version of the Kaduva teaser and spoke to the media briefly. Here’s what Vivek Oberoi said at the event.
“I am very embarrassed to share that though I was born in Hyderabad, I still don’t know Telugu fully. I am making an effort to get better at it. My relatives stay in Secunderabad here and I have very fond memories of the place. Back in my bachelor days, I used to pass in front of St. Anns school on my bike to catch a glimpse of the girls here,” Vivek Oberoi said.
Talking about Prithviraj, the male lead and producer of Kaduva, the Rakhta Charitra actor shared, “My association with Prithviraj began with Lucifer. You wouldn’t believe it that I said yes to the film over a 20-minute phone call. He was shooting in Shimla and it was the first time in my 20-year-old career that I gave a nod to a project that quickly over a call.”
Opening up on Kaduva, he mentioned Prithviraj asked him to listen to the story from the writer. “Neither did he know Hindi nor did I know Malayalam. He was explaining the story in a mishmash of English, Hindi and Malayalam and I was trying to nod in agreement even without understanding anything. I called Prithviraj to tell me the story over the phone instead and I agreed immediately.”
What should audiences expect from the film then? “Kaduva is a story about men, it’s a mardon-wali film. It’s a story about two strong guys who’re as good as bulls and interestingly, we had to shoot amidst huge bulls for the climax too. I don’t know where did Prithviraj bring them from? I am sure that it’ll hit the bull’s eye at the box office too.” The film is directed by Shaji Kailas.
