However, Vivek wanted to prove his talent and he convinced the filmmaker to cast him. Here's how he did it!

Vivek Oberoi reveals he was initially rejected for Company

Vivek Oberoi is the son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that while his father was ready to launch him, he wanted to be launched due to his merit. The actor has now revealed how he was initially rejected for the film. Vivek Oberoi told SCREEN, “I went to meet Mr Varma, he saw my pictures and rejected me outright. He said I looked talented, but I was too polished and well-educated, so I didn’t fit the bill of this slumdog, Chandu. I just asked him to give me one meeting and he said why, I know you won’t fit the part."

The actor then recalled that Ram Gopal Varma was traveling for three weeks and told Vivek that he would meet him after that. Vivek then decided to rent a room in the nearby slum and live there to understand the dialect of the boys there. He said, "From his office I didn’t go home, I went straight to a nearby slum, took a room there, paid the rent, and moved into it. I lived there for 3 weeks and bought one of those dictaphones, and I would go around recording how the boys spoke there."

He then visited Varma once again, but this time with all the preparations. He went into his office wearing chappals and, torn banyan and walked in lighting a beedi. "I walked in with swag, pulled the chair, and sat down. I gave him a death stare and threw my pictures on his table to take a look. He then got up and told me I was doing the film."
