Vizag filmmaker Ajithvasan Uggina’s English film, A Beautiful Breakup, with music by Ilaiyaraaja, to be screened at Cannes fest today

A Beautiful Breakup, an English film directed by Vizag-based filmmaker Ajithvasan Uggina, is turning out to be a major success at the festival circuit. Having grabbed two honours at The 12th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Awards, the film will now be screened at Cannes 2022 Film Festival on May 25 at 4 pm.

The romantic thriller A Beautiful Breakup, written and directed by Ajithvasan, stars Krish Mudragada, Matylda in the lead. Director Ajithvasan Uggina is a filmmaker with vast experience in the industry spanning two decades, whose last Kannada movie Vaasu Naan Pakka Commercial was a commercial success.

The story revolves around Krish and Ruby who’re on a holiday to celebrate their breakup. A Beautiful Breakup is the first of a series of films aimed to be a trilogy, with a cliffhanger climax, piquing the curiosity of the viewer. The first look poster, released by the team, has an Indian man (played by UK based Krish Mudragada) in the company of his girlfriend (played by Matylda) as they suspiciously look into the mirror.

Another major attraction for the film - it has music by the legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja. The latter had composed the OSTs for the film at the Bow Tie Symphony Orchestra. A special song in the film was sung by a UK-based artiste Emily Makis. The composer called this a challenging project, while heaping praises on the team.

Gunahsekar KR is the cinematographer of the film that’s edited by Srikanth Gowda. V G Rajen, who worked for KGF, is in charge of the sound effects while Tapas Nayak and Satish Kumar head the audiography team. Apart from the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Awards, A Beautiful Breakup won laurels at the Amsterdam International film festival and Toronto Independent film festival.
