When Malayalam superstar announced a collaboration with Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, a Malayalam-Telugu bilingual called Vrusshabha, his fans were not too thrilled with the news, citing the director’s earlier works, including Pogaru, as primary reason. But now that the first teaser is out, they are intrigued, mainly because of the top-notch visuals and VFX in it, even though many felt that it has a heavy Baahubali hangover.
“Hope Nanda Kishore has also got a solid story in place’, was a widely seen comment in response to the teaser that dropped on September 18, announcing Vrussabha as a Diwali 2025 release. The film will be in theatres on October 16.
The Vrusshabha teaser is surprisingly good, with great visuals and music’, ‘Insane production quality’, ‘It’s better than expected’, Completely underestimated this project due to the unimpressive track record of the director. But this one surprised. If the Story & Screenplay is as good as the visuals, potential BB’, was the gist of most of the comments that came in for the teaser, with many saying that Vrusshabha looks better than Kannappa. What they were not impressed by, though, were the costumes, Mohanlal’s wig and the action pieces.
Vrusshabha will be Mohanlal’s fourth film as leading man this year, following L2 Empuraan, Thudarum and Hridayapoorvam, all of which were box office hits. Will Vrusshabha be the next? The film was initially announced with Roshan Meka along with Mohanlal in the lead, but there were production delays, and at one point it was thought to have been shelved. It was later revived with Samarjit Lankesh replacing Roshan. The cast also includes Ragini Dwivedi and Neha Saxena, among others.
According to an official plot synopsis, Vrusshabha is a period drama following two sworn enemies, who are reborn as father and son. How their new releationship dynamic plays out forms the crux of the narrative.
