Agastya Nanda's Ikkis and Sunny Deol's Border 2 are one of the biggest releases of 2026 that will depict the brave stories of our Indian soldiers and their sacrifices. While Ikkis will release on January 1, Border 2 is coming to cinemas on January 23. This Vicky Kaushal-starrer is based on the Uri terrorist attack in 2016, and India's subsequent retaliatory surgical strike that was held across the LOC into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to neutralise terrorists. The story follows Major Vihaan Singh Shergill, who leads the surgical strike operation in the movie. Uri: The Surgical Strike is still celebrated for its realistic action sequences and amazing cinematography.

Another Vicky Kaushal-starrer that's based on the real-life story of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, India's first five-star general. The movie chronicles his four-decade military career, his bravery during World War II, navigating India's tumultuous partition, and his role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War that led to Bangladesh's creation, showcasing his leadership and iconic status as a beloved military hero.

Keerthi Chakra

Mohanlal's Malayalam war drama focuses on an elite NSG commando's fight against terrorism in Kashmir, based on a real event from the Kargil War. The movie highlights the dedication of the Indian Army, the harsh realities of insurgency, and their proud sacrifices. Mohanlal is seen as Major Mahadevan, who leads the special Army team, while Jiiva is seen as Havildar Jaikumar, who receives the prestigious award.

This 1964 war drama has an ensemble cast led by Dharmendra, Balraj Sahni, Vijay Anand, Sanjay Khan, Sudhir and Priya Rajvansh. Haqeeqat is based on the 1962 Sino-Indian War, where a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh was pitted against a much larger adversary. The story was centred around the battle of Rezang La in Ladakh, showcasing a fictional version of the battles fought by the Indian Army in Ladakh during the 1962 War.

Varun Tej and Nikitin Dheer portray two Indian soldiers who fight against the Nazi group during World War II, focusing on the rivalry between villager Hari Babu and the zamindar's son Eeshwar. Kanche received critical acclaim for its realistic action sequences, strong performances from Tej and Dheer, and for being the first Telugu movie set during World War II.
