The Walking Dead Universe-actor Erik Jenkens, who played the character of Dr. Steven Edwards on the show, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer, which has already metastasized to his liver. The 53-year-old actor’s family has opened a GoFundMe page to collect money to cover the medical expenses and basic sustenance.
On the GoFundMe page, his wife Jessica wrote, “After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year and a half ago, our beloved Eric Jensen was just diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer.” She praised her husband for being an amazing partner to her and a devoted father to their 13-year-old daughter Sadie, other than being a hardworking artist.
However, the worrying bit of the cancer has been its metastasis to Jensen’s liver. The only shred of light at the end of the tunnel is that he can make a recovery only if the doctors are able to shrink his tumors using medication and chemo, and then operate to remove them in two very major surgeries. However, before the Jensen family can arrive at that ominous bridge, there lies the issue of crossing a huge mountain of financial distress and insecurity.
Being freelance acting professionals, Erik and Jessica’s profession does not offer them consistent monetary security. Adding Jensen’s aneurysm, the double strikes, along with this carcinoma diagnosis is going to badly affect the family’s already precarious financial situation.
