Wamiqa Gabbi is 'happy surprised' about Bhool Chuk Maaf's good responses: 'Nobody really expected this and...'

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's rom-com drama, Bhool Chuk Maaf, hit theaters on May 23. The film, which was initially scheduled for a May 9 theatrical release, was cancelled amid India-Pakistan tensions and was scheduled for a direct OTT release on May 16. However, after facing a legal dispute from PVR INOX, the film was finally released in cinemas on May 23. The film, which has been getting good responses from the audience, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Amid this, Wamiqa opened up about the film and reacted to the positive reviews. 

Wamiqa Gabbi on Bhool Chuk Maaf's good responses

Speaking to Filmfare, Wamiqa Gabbi opened up about Bhool Chuk Maaf and the good responses the film has been receiving despite several release dates and legal issues earlier. The actress said that she is extremely happy about the kind of responses her film has been getting. 

Wamiqa said, "I am feeling very happy. Surprised. Happy surprised. Overwhelmed. I don't know how to explain this. I think nobody really expected this and we are so happy and we are so happy with the love we are receiving from the audience. I am so glad that my parents enjoyed it so much, and my whole family enjoyed it so much. That's why I went to Chandigarh and watched the film with them, because the kind of response we were getting, I was like 'I have to go to Chandigarh and watch it with my family.' So yeah, I am very happy, very very very happy."

Sharing her father's reaction to Bhool Chuk Maaf, Wamiqa said that he laughed and enjoyed the film. She also revealed that her father shed tears during some emotional scenes in the film. 

About Bhool Chuk Maaf

Bhool Chuk Maaf is about Ranjan (Rajkummar Rao), who gets stuck in a time loop the day before his wedding, repeatedly reliving the memories of the haldi ceremony. The storyline explores themes of love, anxiety, and second chances, as Ranjan tries to break free from that cycle and fulfill a promise he made in the past.

The story explores the consequences of Ranjan's actions and whether he will be able to break the cycle of time and marry Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi), as well as the societal expectations on individuals when it comes to finding a suitable partner.

Directed by Karan Sharma, the film also casts Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Raghuvir Yadav, and Zakir Hussain. The film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
