Tiger franchise fans were in for a rude shock when they realized that Tiger Zinda Hai director Ali Abbas Zafar was not coming back for the third installment. However, the filmmaker had a good reason to stay away or so he believes. Ali has revealed the real reason why he is not helming the upcoming Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-Emraan Hashmi directorial.
Ali revealed his reason to PTI. “When the third part of ‘Tiger’ was happening I had some engagements that I was committed to,” he told the wire agency.
While calling the producer Aditya Chopra his brother, Ali further said that Maneesh Sharma, who has directed Tiger 3, ‘would do justice to it.’ He feels that the upcoming movie will be very entertaining to watch.
Although Maneesh is directing Salman in Tiger 3, Ali has another project in mind for Bhaijaan. He hopes to do an action film with Salman. The movie is currently in the scripting process. “I will share (the script) with him soon,” he revealed in the same interview.
Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif as Agent Tiger and Agent Zoya, introduces Emraan Hashmi into the franchise. The actor plays the antagonist in the film.
Ek Tha Tiger, released in 2012, was the original movie. The film was helmed by Kabir Khan. The 2017 film Tiger Zinda Hai was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and the latest movie, tentatively titled Tiger 3, is being helmed by Maneesh Sharma.
Tiger 3 is slated to release in theatres on Eid. The film will be available on screens from April 21, 2023.
