While the buzz around Krrish 4 is at an all-time high, the actor is also making waves with his next film, War 2. Also starring Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, the sequel to the 2019 YRF blockbuster is being directed by Ayan Mukerji and has been in the making for quite a while. However, production recently hit a roadblock when Hrithik suffered a severe injury while filming a highly anticipated dance sequence, halting the shoot for over a month. Now, there’s finally an update on what’s happening on the Mukerji set and when Roshan will return to work.
Hrithik Roshan To Resume War 2 Shoot Post Recovery
For those unaware, Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan are set to face off in a grandly mounted dance number in War 2. It was during the shoot of this very song a few weeks ago that Hrithik sustained an injury, prompting a break for recovery. According to recent reports, Ayan Mukerji has returned to set and is currently completing patchwork with a body double. The filmmaker is planning the remaining schedule around Hrithik’s recovery. The Koi… Mil Gaya star is expe cted to rejoin the team by the end of this month.
A Mid-Day report quoted an insider who revealed, “The patch shoot was carried out with body doubles and junior artistes. Hrithik is still in recovery, undergoing regular movement training and physiotherapy. He’s expected to resume filming towards the end of April once he gets the go-ahead from his medical team. Ayan’s back with a laser focus.”
Meanwhile, though Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai fame Hrithik’s injury has delayed things on the ground, Ayan Mukerji and the team have been using this downtime to complete the post-production of the already filmed portions. A source added, “The makers are confident about wrapping the film by May. There’s a tight turnaround ahead, but YRF [Yash Raj Films] is used to managing massive schedules. Hrithik is being monitored closely, and the dance scenes will resume only when he’s 100% fit. The film will release as scheduled on August 14.”
War 2 Release Date Confirmed
To clarify, War 2 is currently in the final leg of filming. The shoot for the special song featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR has been pushed to May 2025. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, who has been dedicated to the project for quite some time, the film continues to generate immense anticipation.
In an unexpected twist, a fan-created video hyping the movie caught the attention of YRF on X (formerly Twitter). What happened next took everyone by surprise. Responding to the fan tweet, the official YRF handle casually dropped the release date for the film.
The tweet read: “Must say... you have set it up brilliantly even before we’ve started our marketing of #War2. There will be mayhem in cinemas on 14 August 2025, worldwide.”
