War 2, one of the most-awaited films of 2025, has finally hit theaters on August 14, 2025. The craze for the film has been over the top since the past weeks. The audience was super excited to experience the battle between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, while Kiara Advani gave boss lady vibes. Amid the theatrical release, we got to know about the OTT release details for War 2.

After its theatrical run ends, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, will be released on Netflix. If the film follows the usual 8-week release window rule, War 2 can be expected in October on OTT.

Meanwhile, CBFC made major changes in War 2. The creators were asked to mute 'inappropriate references' in six places in the audio and visual sections. An 'obscene' line of dialogue was removed, and it was replaced with an approved sentence, and an 'obscene' gesture made by a character was also removed.

Additionally, there have been significant cuts in Kiara Advani's bikini sequence. The CBFC has asked the makers to reduce the erotic scenes by 50 percent and it has been learnt that the questionable scenes are Kiara's bikini shot in the song Avaan Jaavan. Meanwhile, they retained all the action scenes.

In War 2, Hrithik Roshan reprises his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal. In the trailer, he can be seen promising revenge to the photo frame of Tiger Shroff's character, who died in the first instalment. On the other hand, Jr NTR is the Special Units Officer Vikram, who is assigned to neutralise Kabir. 

Kiara Advani plays Kavya Luthra, a character who is an expert in action sequences and a romantic interest for Kabir. She is speculated to be the daughter of Colonel Sunil Luthra, a senior RAW official, played by Ashutosh Rana.

As per Bollywood Hungama, the YRF team has asked 2-screen properties to play a minimum of 12 shows of War 2 and a minimum of 18 shows need to be played in 3-screen theatres.

"Multiplexes with 4, 5 and 6 screens need to play 21, 27 and 30 shows a day respectively. For 7-screen multiplexes, 36 shows are a must, while for 8-screen plexes, 42 shows are mandatory in a day. There should be 48 shows in 9-screen cinemas and for multiplexes with 10 screens and more, the requirement is 54 shows," the source added.
